The invention relates to an apparatus for the handling of conical confectionery articles, especially nougat cornets. It is employed correspondingly in the packaging of such confectionery articles. The object of the invention is to eliminate manual activity and reduce prime costs at a low outlay in terms of machinery. For this purpose, an apparatus for the separation, orientation, ordering and insertion of conical confectionery articles must be provided. This is achieved, according to the invention, in that the confectionery articles are separated, ordered and oriented on separating bands which are inclined about their longitudinal and/or transverse axis and which possess guide members having sawtooth-like recesses, pass thereafter onto a build-up band, all the confectionery articles not yet oriented likewise being brought into a specific position by a catching bar having a catching pocket, subsequently are positioned by a stop and, by means of an insertion mechanism consisting of power-operated gripping tongs and of a lifting and rotating mechanism connected to it, are picked up by means of a known lever system and introduced into the corresponding pack bottom parts. <IMAGE>
