To protect users of electrically-operated devices isolating switches triggered by a switching current and provided with contact sets are known, which isolate the primary current circuit of the device in the event of danger. A no-contact isolating switch for low power values, which is free from shocks, withstands aging, and is easy to produce, uses selected sections (3a, 4a) of the (circuit)conductors (3, 4) in the switch in co-operation with at least one electric switching element (23, 32, 42), whose dielectric strength, when exposed to the switching current, is largely exceeded, with the result that it is destroyed and immediately separates mechanically the conductor sections (3a, 4a). The triggering switching element can be in the form of an electrolytic capacitor, a diode or a composite or metal film resistor, such as are used in electronic circuits. In a further embodiment a substance which is detonated on ignition can be added to a triggering resistor element. The switching current is provided by an electronic control circuit with a semi-conductor switch (17, 37). |
