PURPOSE:To improve the rate of fuel consumption without impairing the driving work, by performing speed change control, in case of using high generating power type fuel, according to a shift pattern whose speed change point is set on the lower speed side, comparing with a case of using low generating power type fuel. CONSTITUTION:A fuel deciding means decides whether the fuel adapted to be fed to an engine, is fuel of low generating power type (ex. regular gasoline) or fuel of high generating power type (ex. gasoline of high octane number), and according to this decided result, in case of the low generating power type, a shift pattern setting means sets the first shift pattern. On the other hand, in case of the high generating power type, the second shift pattern is set, whose speed change point is set on the lower speed side comparing with the first shift pattern, and in conformity with the second shift pattern, a speed change control means performs the speed change control for an automatic transmission, according to the driving condition which is detected by a driving condition detecting means. In this way, the rate of fuel can be improved effectively, without impairing the driving work.
