PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity for a neutral detecting switch and to reduce a number of part items, by detecting a speed of an engine through a speed sensor and controlling the automatic cruising so as to be canceled by a computer in accordance with a detection result of the engine speed. CONSTITUTION:In a system where a control lever 3 is controlled by an accelerator pedal 4, an actuator 5, for instance, operated by a negative pressure from a negative pressure source 6, is provided, and the control lever 3 is set to a position of required running speed by actuating said actuator 5. Supply of the negative pressure to the actuator 5 is controlled through a selector valve 7 controlled by a control circuit 9. And the control circuit 9, which inputs an output signal from an engine speed sensor 10, performs a control so as to cancel the action of the actuator 5 when an engine is in a fixed speed or more, that is, when the engine is in not less than the speed in the time of the set automatic cruise running speed.
