PURPOSE:To reduce smoke, fuel consumption and noise, by providing an auxiliary fuel injection pipe through which a part of fuel is injected toward a combustion chamber in the top surface of a piston only during opening of an intake valve, in the vicinity of the seat of the intake valve. CONSTITUTION:An injection port 10 is formed at a position which evades an intake valve bevel section 7 and a port wall 8, in the vicinity of the intake valve seat 6 on the inside of an intake port 4. Further, there is provided an auxiliary fuel injection pipe 9 for injecting a part of fuel toward a combustion chamber 3 only during opening of an intake valve 5. During opening of the intake valve at the initial stage of every intake air passage, fuel is injected from the auxiliary fuel pipe 9 into the combustion chamber 3 which has a high temperature, and thereafter, fuel is injected from a main fuel injection nozzle to be burnt. Thus, it is possible to introduce fuel into the combustion chamber, effectively, and therefore, to be eliminate an increase in HC, thereby it is possible to reduce smoke, fuel consumption and noise.
