PURPOSE:The title fiber that is obtained by adding a polyolefin thermoplastic polymer of a molecular weight lower than a specific value to a polybutylene terephthalate in good operability, thus having high strength. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber is obtained by adding a polyolefin thermoplastic polymer which has compatibility to polytetramethylene terephthalate and less than 10,000, preferably less than 8,000 of molecular weight, preferably polyethylene, partially oxidized polyethylene or ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer to a polyester mainly containing tetramethylene terephthalate units, preferably in an amount of 0.1-3.0wt% based on the polyester.
