PURPOSE:To obtain the PCM recording and reproducing system where the unnaturality of a discontinuous part or generation of noise is reduced by recording a signal on the next track when a block number of a final data frame in the track is a half of the block number in the data frame at the assembling. CONSTITUTION:Numerals in the track represents block addresses 0-127 in the case of, e.g., a data frame format. Numbers (j-1), j and (j+1) shown the sequence of data frames, and for example, they shown that the first half of the i-th data is recorded on the i-th rack and the latter half is recorded on the (i+1)th track respectively. At the assemble edit, the track recorded as the i-th and the (i+1)th frames is extracted and the 64th block of the data frame is recorded from the (i+1)th track to overlap the data before assembling and e data after assembling within the data frame corresponding to the j-th frame.
