PURPOSE:To execute tracking control by a difference in reflectivity between the crystallized part and non-crystallized part of a recording layer by subjecting a substrate to a surface treatment so that part of the dye recording layer, i.e., the part corresponding to a guide band for tracking control is not crystallized. CONSTITUTION:A mask having a straight line, spiral or concentrical blanked part to form the guide band for tracking control at prescribed loci on the recording layer is prepd. After the mask is placed on the substrate, the substrate is subjected to the surface treatment such as plasma treatment or UV ray irradiation. Only the part to draw the prescribed loci of the straight line, spiral or concentrical shape on the substrate is subjected to the surface treatment in this stage. After the mask is removed from the substrate, a dye or dye-contg. material is coated or deposited by evaporation on the substrate. Only the masked part of the substrate is then crystallized. On the other hand, the unmasked track part of the substrate, i.e., the part subjected to the surface treatment is not crystallized. The tracking control is thus executed by the difference in the reflectivity between the crystallized part and non-crystallized part of the dye recording layer. |
