PURPOSE:To increase S/N of signal light and to prevent an element from being destroyed owing to variance in sensitivity among picture elements by shifting the reference operation point of the swinging of a mirror swinging part from a position on the surface of the element. CONSTITUTION:The absolute quantity of variation in angle of deflection when a voltage of 0-CV is applied is theta1 and the initial angle of a deflection is larger by an angle (a) as a bias angle. For the purpose, the element is so arranged that luminous flux is incident on the entrance pupil of a projection lens in a theta1+a state, and consequently the clearance angle of a mirror plane part 15 (mirror surface other than the mirror swinging part 13) becomes larger by the bias angle (a). Consequently, S/N of the signal light is increased at the same deflection angle as before and the element is prevented from being destroyed owing to variance in sensitivity among respective picture elements.
