The invention relates to a method of compacting particle-shaped material made of plastic, carbon, metal or ceramic by pressure-treating the material which has been introduced into a closed mould space, which is characterised in that the treatment takes place simultaneously at a pressure between 10 N/cm<2> and 10<4> N/cm<2> and with sound of a frequency of 10 to 100 kHz.
