The present invention relates to a separable fastening device which may be used for tightening shoelaces. The fastening device of the invention comprises a male element 1 having elastic tongues 21, 22 and a female element 2 including a structure making it possible to receive the tongues of the male element when these are inserted horizontally. The upper surface of the female element includes an elastic thrust plate 12 formed in a single piece with the female element. The thrust plate has an enlarged surface zone sufficient to enable a finger of the user to press so as to indirectly allow the tongues 21, 22 of the male element to be released from the female element.
