PURPOSE:To obtain a compsn, which enables undesired paints deposited on ariticles to be coated to be stripped rapidly, easily and safely with less labor, containing a water-soluble material or a colloid forming material and a volume expansion material as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION:A paint remover compsn. contains a water-soluble material capable of dissolving in water and/or a colloid forming material of and a volume expansion material capable of expanding its volume by heat as active ingredients. The compsn is applied to a material to be coated and dried to form a film. After paint is deposited on said film, paint deposited on said material to be coated in brought into contact with a liquid obtd. by diluting the compsn, contg. at least one of said water-soluble material and said colloid forming material as active ingredients with water and heating the soln. to a predetermined temp., whereby the deposited paint can be stripped.
