PURPOSE:To lower the heating temperature of a steel material after rough rolling and to reduce the thermal consumption of a heating furnace by arranging a gas-burning type heating device and an induction type one at the inlet side of a finishing mill and heating uniformly the whole body of the material in rolling the steel material. CONSTITUTION:In case of finish rolling a steel material by reheating it by a heating furnace after rough rolling it, in a rolling line; a gas-burning type heating device 10 and an induction type heating device 11 are arranged in series at the inlet side of a finishing mill 2 on a transporting table 3 of the billet, in the rolling line. By heating the whole body of the billet entering the mill 2 by the heating device 10 and heating the billet end liable to cool by the device 11; a thermal energy used for heating in the furnace is saved without causing cracks at the ends of a finish-rolled steel sheet in its width direction and the deterioration of material quality, even when the extracting temperature of the billet from the furnace at the preceding process is lowered. |
