METHOD FOR RECOVERING PALLADIUM AND/OR SILVER

PURPOSE:To selectively efficiently recover Pd and Ag in high purity by bringing an extraction solvent contg. a specified extracting agent into contact with an aq. soln. contg. Pd and/or Ag. CONSTITUTION:An extraction solvent contg. 2-alkylthiopyridine shown in a formula (R is 8-12C alkyl), i.e., 2-octylthiopyridine as an extracting agent is brought into contact with an aq. soln. contg. Pd and/or Ag in a liquid-liquid state. Pd and Ag can be selectively efficiently recovered in high purity. Therefore a material contg. Pd and/or Ag such as a waste catalyst and various scraps is dissolved in mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid and nitric acid to prepare the aq. soln. contg. Pd and/or Ag and the above-mentioned recovery is enabled by subjecting this aq. soln. to the above-mentioned liquid-liquid contact.
