PURPOSE:To make it possible to use a pipe of light weight and having slide surfaces in fields where reciprocal and rotary movements are required by forming fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) on the surface of a metallic pipe core of relatively thin wall thickness and applying metallic plating on its inner surface. CONSTITUTION:A pipe-like object is formed with a metallic pipe 2 of a relatively thin wall thickness of about 1mm or less, preferably 0.8-0.1mm, as a core with FRP 1 on its outer surface by means of sheet lapping method, etc. and with a mandrel used on its inner surface. If an inner diameter is 3mm or more, hard chromium plating 3, etc. can be applied by passing a thin wire-like electrode through the pipe-like object. In this way, this pipe has an inner surface texture that can be used well enough for a hydraulic cylinder and can be made very lightweight.
