PURPOSE:To surely perform recognition for an object, by measuring the physical and the chemical characteristics of the object, generating those characteristics as a data matrix with a prescribed form, and performing an arithmetic process. CONSTITUTION:The physical and the chemical characteristics of an object 6 are measured, and the data matrix with the prescribed form is outputted from a data matrix generating device 1. The data matrix is supplied to a comparison part 8, and after being compared with a reference matrix from a reference matrix output device 2, it is supplied to a comparison arithmetic unit 4. The comparison arithmetic unit 4 outputs the recognized result of the object based on an output from a tolerance matrix output device 3. Those devices are controlled by a controller 5 respectively.
