PURPOSE:To smoothly perform the restart-up of a machine tool, by connecting an automatic shut-down device to the numerical controller of the machine tool, and always stopping automatically the machine tool at a secured position against the change of environment in the neighborhood of the machine tool, such as abnormal temperature rise, humidity rise, or vibration, etc. CONSTITUTION:Abnormality for the temperature rise is detected by a temperature detection circuit 63, and for the humidity rise, by a humidity detection circuit 64, and for the vibration, by a vibration detection circuit 65, respectively. At the detecting time of those abnormality, a signal corresponding to respective abnormal state is transmitted to a numerical control part 2 by a command from a CPU61 through an interface 66, and a cable 7, and the signal is transmitted to a motion control unit 25 by the command from a CPU21. A driving part 4 stops a machine tool at the secured position based on the signal from the motion control unit 25. The secured position in this case, is decided by the CPU61 according to data stored in a storage device 62.
