PURPOSE:To reduce the incomplete combustion at the initial stage of starting by forming a high heat conductivity layer onto a portion of a low heat conductivity metal surface formed on the head section of a piston. CONSTITUTION:Stainless steel (low heat conductivity) 110 is casted in the central portion of a piston head 10 so as to form a combustion chamber 100. Then a high heat conductivity layer of pure copper is formed on the surface of the sidewall 111, the bottom wall 112 and the circumferential section 200 of the combustion chamber 110. Consequently, the temperature at the combustion chamber wall increases uniformly thereby the incomplete combustion due to the cold spots is suppressed and the combustion efficiency is improved. |
