PURPOSE:To set an optional delay time for a an external measurement request signal and to measure a sample the delay time later by providing a measurement request signal input part with a delay circuit. CONSTITUTION:When the measurement request signal RQ from an external part is inputted to the measurement request signal input part IX, the color of the sample S is measured the preset delay time later through the delay circuit 15 and a delay means like the time waiting loop of a CPU 10 in response to the measurement request signal RQ. Namely, when the delay time is set, a photoelectric conversion part PV operates right after the sample S having passed through a detection place reaches a measurement position to separate light from the sample S into basic color components and also convert light of the basic color components photoelectrically. Consequently, the color of the sample S detected at the optional position distant from the measurement place is measured after the optional set delay time.
