NEW MATERIAL:A piperazine acetamide derivative of formula I (R1 is lower alkyl; R2 is phenyl or pyridyl; R3 is H or lower alkoxy) and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:4-Methyl-N-[2-(2-pyridylmethylaminocarbonyl)phenyl]-1-piperazine acetamide fumaric acid salt. USE:Useful as a remedy for urinary tract disorder. It exhibits excellent micturi tion reflex suppressing action and is effective in curing urinary tract disorder such as pollakiuria, feeling of residual urine, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a halogenoacetamide derivative of formula II (X is halogen) with an N- alkylpiperazine of formula III in a solvent such as benzene at a temperature between room temperature and the refluxing temperature of the solvent. The starting compound of formula II is also novel and can be synthesized by the reaction shown in the reaction formula.
