PURPOSE:To enhance ink absorptivity, drying characteristics of an ink, clearness of color forming and water resistance, by mixing a specified copolymer comprising vinyl alcohol as a main component unit with a copolymer comprising a UV-crosslinkable group, applying the mixture in at least a specified amount per unit area, and effecting crosslinking. CONSTITUTION:A coating material mainly comprising 50-90wt% of a copolymer having a cationic group and comprising vinyl alcohol as a main constituent and 50-10wt% of a copolymer having a UV-crosslinkable group is applied to a transparent sheet form base in an amount of at least 5g/m<2>, and crosslinking is effected by irradiation with UV rays to provide a coated layer. The two copolymers are used in such a ratio that the proportion of the copolymer having the cationic group is at least 10wt%. If this proportion is less than 10wt%, a sufficient effect is not displayed. If the proportion of the copolymer having the cationic group is less than 50wt%, water absorptivity is undesirably low. The thickness of the coated layer is equivalent to at least 5g/m<2>, which is an amount necessary for absorbing a sufficient amount of a water base ink. |
