PURPOSE:To improve the yield, productivity, quality of a molding, etc., of the obtained vinyl polymer by improving its moldability, by using a vinyl polymer having a specified porosity, a specified pore distribution and a specified filter cake ratio as a raw material in the dry molding of the vinyl polymer. CONSTITUTION:A particulate polymer in which at least 90wt% portion comprises a porous powder of a porosity >=30vol%, fine pores of a radius <=2,500Angstrom amount to at least 40% of the entire pores of the powder and the polymer portion left insoluble in a solution in the solvent same as that used in dry molding is 0.4wt% or below (e.g., polyvinyl chloride) is prepared as a starting vinyl polymer. This vinyl polymer is dissolved in a solvent (e.g., acetone or benzene) and extruded through a spinneret, a die or the like or cast to produce a molding such as a fiber or a film.
