The apparatus has a holder for supporting the track slider for rotation about the central axis of the coil support portion. A rotational drive angularly displaces the holder through a prescribed angle. A grinding tool grinds an edge of the coil support of the core into a duller surface. A threed-imensional guide drive relatively moves the grinding tool holder in X-, Y-, and Zaxis directions. A numerical control controls the threedimensional guide drive to position the track slider and grinding tool relatively to each other.
