PURPOSE:To reduce scattering of the weight of a negative electrode to stabilize the capacity of an alkaline battery by forming a clad plate comprising zinc and tin in expanding shape, amalgamating it with mercury, then blanking and weighing to use as a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode 3 is formed by machining a clad plate comprising zinc (a) and tin (b) in an expanded plate (c), amalgamating it with mercury, then blanking and weighing. The negative electrode 3 is assembled together with a positive electrode 1 mainly comprising silver oxide, a case 2, a sealing plate 4, an electrolyte retaining material 5, a separator 6, and a gasket 8 in an alkaline battery. By expanding the clad plate of zinc and tin, the thickness and porosity are made uniform easily, and the filling amount of negative zinc is uniformly controlled by the simple process of expanding and blanking. Therefore, productivity and weighing accuracy are improved, and the battery having uniform capacity is easily obtained. |
