CONSTITUTION:The clean roughed surface 2 is formed on the surface of steel 1 by pickling, etc. A hollow body 3 of a metal (Zn, Sn, etc.) or its alloy exhibiting a rust preventive effect on the steel 1 due to a sacrificial anodic reaction is mounted on a core metal 4 which is attachable to and detachable from a rotating shaft 5 to form a high-speed rotating roll R. The roll is pressed on the roughed surface 2 under a specified pressure P. The treatment is carried out at specified pressure, number of passes, number of revolutions, etc., and the component of the roll material is transferred to form a transferred component layer 6 on the roughed surface 2. An undercoat 7 is applied, as required, on the layer 6 by chromate treatment, etc., and a finish coat 8 is applied thereon. This invention method is appropriately used for the surface treatment of a large-sized steel structure such as bridges and towers and the local rust preventive treatment before coating at the time of repairing the sheet metal of an automobile, etc.
