PURPOSE:To provide a rubber composition containing a specific amount of an aromatic vinyl compound and a specific amount of a copolymer composed of two kinds of blocks having 1,2 or 3,4-bond in conjugated diene part, having improved wet-skid resistance, etc., and suitable for tire tread having low fuel consumption. CONSTITUTION:The objective rubber composition contains >=20(wt)% block copolymer composed of (A) 20-80% copolymer block having an aromatic vinyl compound content of 10-30% and 1,2 or 3,4-bond content of 10-25% in conjugated diene part and (B) a copolymer block having an aromatic vinyl compound content of >=10% and 1,2 or 3,4-bond content of 40-75% in conjugated diene part. The block copolymer can be produced by copolymerizing an aromatic vinyl compound (e.g. styrene) and a conjugated diene compound (e.g. 1,3-butadiene in a hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of an organic lithium initiation agent. The content of aromatic vinyl compound in the whole copolymer is 10-30% and the content of 1,2 or 3,4-bond in the conjugated diene part of the copolymer is 20-50%.
