<p>Disclosed is a porous sponge-like material having an improved scrubbing and cleaning ability which comprises a porous cellulose hydrate body having at least one netting attached to at least a portion of the surface of the body. In order to improve cleaning ability, the porous cellulose hydrate body contains a thermoplastic filler material. In the preferred embodiment, moreover, the filler material is comprised of a heat-sealable thermoplastic material and the netting at least partially comprised of a heat-sealable thermoplastic material to enable the facile bonding of the netting to the porous cellulose body by heat-sealing.</p> |
