PURPOSE:To grasp whether or not all tracks of a recording medium is recorded by discriminating each track of the recording medium whether it is recorded or not when the presence of a reproducing signal from the recording medium is detected and displaying each track by a display element. CONSTITUTION: The presence of a reproducing signal from the recording medium 2 is detected by a head 3, a reproducing amplifier 4 and an A/D converter 5, a CPU 2 discriminates whether each rack of the recording medium 2 is recorded or not by using the detection signal and stores the result. When it is finished as to all tracks, an LED is lighted when each track is recorded and the LED is put out when not recorded and the recording state is displayed on a display device 7 at every track. Thus, as to all tracks of the recording medium 2, whether it is recorded or not is grasped easily visually.
