PURPOSE:To ensure an engine brake performance sufficiently by judging that uphillroad acceleration is effected, based on car speed and its change under an accelerator released condition whereby disengaging/engaging a clutch at a set car speed lower than a predetermined car speed in case of uphillroad acceleration. CONSTITUTION:Signals from an engine revolving speed sensor 19, and the primary and secondary pulley sensors 21 and 22 of a continuously variable transmission 4 are inputted into an electronic control unit 20 so as to be processed in a programmable manner by means of a microcomputer and the like. And an electronic control signal and both a gear shifting control signal and a line pressure control signal are inputted into an electromagnetic clutch 2 and the pressure reducing control circuit 17 of the continuously variable transmission 4 respectively for actuating each control operation. In this case, when uphillroad acceleration is effected while a clutch is disengaged with an accelerator pedal 27 released, the electromagnetic clutch 2 is engaged at a set speed lower than a normal one for making an engine brake active. And after the electromagnetic clutch 2 is engaged, the electromagnetic clutch 2 is disengaged at a set vehicular speed lower than a normal one for making the engine brake active to the extent of the low vehicular speed side. |
