PURPOSE:To obtain a good picture reading output by correcting the unevenness in a picture signal resulting from the irregularity in dark current at the time of reading a picture photoelectrically. CONSTITUTION:The picture signal obtained by reading the picture for a line unit by a CCD 103 is corrected in dark voltage in an offset correction circuit 205, further, the sensitivity is corrected in a shading correction circuit 206 and the signal is fed to a correction circuit 207. The correction circuit 207 is a RAM in which density conversion data is stored and a desired conversion curve can be written by a CPU212 by the designation of the density of an user or the density characteristic of a recording part. A buffer memory 208 sets the output speed of picture data to the recording part at the time of recording in a printer 209.
