The transformer or choke core assembly consists of two parallel plates (3) joined by two or more circular winding legs (1). The plates (3) or yokes are made from non-amorphous ferrite lamina, which are glued together. The legs (1) on which the coils (5) are wound consist of rolls of magnetic material, e.g. metal foil, which are glued together between each turn. When the legs have been wound and glued, vertical splits (9) are sawn radially through them to reduce eddy currents.
