PURPOSE:To enable even upper surface machining, chamfering, sloped surface machining, etc. to be performed, by providing the first, second and the third electrode guides vertically while the fourth electrode guide horizontally from the third electrode guide, in the case of a wire electrode guide device. CONSTITUTION:A wire electrode guide device 2 vertically provides between its arms 2a, 2b the first and second electrode guides 3, 4, and a wire electrode part, which is tensely bridged between the first and second electrode guides 3, 4, performs normal contour machining. While a wire electrode part, which is tensely bridged horizontally between the third electrode guide 5 in the bottom end of the arm 2b and the fourth electrode guide 6, provided in an arm 2c being equipped with a hydraulic cylinder 11, can perform upper surface machining or sloped surface machining and chamfering or the like or upper surfaces 32a of a work 32 by vertically adjusting the electrode guide 6 through the hydraulic cylinder 11. The vertical position adjustment as necessary is performed by a cylinder 18. Moving strokes of piston rods 12, 19 are detected by encoders 13, 20.
