摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect the cutting of a ribbon over the entire length of the ribbon, by providing a voltage applying part and a ribbon cutting detection mechanism to both ends of the ribbon of a current supply transfer type printer. CONSTITUTION:Unprinted (printing-over) ribbon voltage applying parts 5, 6 and unprinted (printing-over) ribbon part ribbon cutting detection mechanisms 7, 8 are provided to both ends of a ribbon 1. In a usual state, a current is made to flow to a ground roller 4 from the unprinted (printing-over) ribbon voltage applying parts 5, 6 through both ends of the ribbon 1. However, when the ribbon 1 is cut at an unprinted (printing-over) ribbon part, no current flows to the ground roller 4 and the cutting of the ribbon 1 is detected by the unprinted (printing-over) ribbon part ribbon cutting detection mechanisms 7, 8 to generate ribbon cutting detection signals 9, 10 which are, in turn, collected by a logic part 11 to generate a ribbon cutting detection signal 12. By this method, the cutting of the ribbon 1 is detected over the entire length of the ribbon 1.
