The invention relates to a presence simulator device for preventing burglary when buildings are unoccupied. It consists of invertor switches IV and make/break switches I, the opening or closing F of which is controlled by a programmer P which is turned on through a make/break switch H. When IV is in position 2, the presence simulator apparatuses A (lamps, radios etc.) plugged into the electrical circuits C of the building are normally supplied by the current source S. When H is in the closed position and IV in position 1, the current supply to the circuits C is controlled by the opening or closing of the make/break switches I. The state of the make/break switches I is controlled by the programmer. Thus the apparatuses A undergo successive off and on cycles at planned times and for periods defined by the programme in P. It therefore suffices for the occupant leaving the building to close H and set IV in position 1 so that a presence is simulated in the building. <IMAGE>
