摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the friction coefficient of the titled medium by forming a lubricant layer contg. the perfluoroalkyl ester of a carboxylic acid and a rust preventive agent on a ferromagnetic metallic thin film as a topcoat layer. CONSTITUTION:The ferromagnetic metallic thin film 2 is formed on a nonmagnetic carrier 1, and the topcoat layer 3 consisting of the perfluoroalkyl ester of a carboxylic acid and a rust preventive agent is formed on the ferromagnetic metallic thin film. Phenols, naphthols, quinones, diaryl ketones, a heterocyclic compd. contg. a nitrogen atom, a heterocyclic compd. contg. an oxygen atom, a heterocyclic compd. contg. a sulfur atom, a compd. having a mercapto group, a thiocarboxylic acid or its salt, a thiazole compd., etc., can be exemplified as the rust preventive agent. As a result, a magnetic recording medium having excellent traveling stability, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and long-period stability can be obtained.
