PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having sufficient developed color density and color forming sensitivity, excellent in the long-term storage stability of a recording image, suitable for high speed recording and, further, having high background whiteness and extremely high practicality, by incorporating at least one kind of a compound represented by a specific formula. CONSTITUTION:A salicylic ester compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein X is A or -SO2-) is contained in a thermal recording material having a thermal color forming layer containing a colorless - light-colored electron donating dye and an electron acceptive compound. As concrete compounds represented by the general formula (I), bisphenol A disalicylate and bisphenol S disalicylate are designated and can be used alone or in a mixed state. The use amount thereof is 5% or more, pref., 20-200% by wt. of the coupler. This inventive thermal recording material is prepared, for example, by applying a coating solution for forming a thermal layer containing the aforementioned components to a proper support such as paper, synthetic paper or a plastic film and drying the same. |
