PURPOSE:To obtain the titled ferroboron contg. Si, having a low content of Al, and suitable for an amorphous alloy additive with low electric power consumption by using an electric furnace, and reducing a boron compd. with ferrosilicon. CONSTITUTION:A mixed material consisting of the powder of boron oxide, borax, boric acid, etc., and a slag forming agent such as calcium oxide is mixed into ferrosilicon powder having a 0.25-1.5 weight ratio of Si/Fe and <=1mm particle diameter. When the mixture is melted in an electric furnace, the boron compd. is reduced by Si, and ferroboron is obtained. Since the reduction reaction of boron oxide by Si is exothermal, the electric power consumption is reduced.
