PURPOSE:To prevent jam and failure by identifying the placing conditions of an original text sheet placed on an original read and placing part, such as size, location, etc. exhausting to prohibiting according to the conditions, and thereby eliminating unnecessary actions of the exhaust mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When an original text sheet is placed on an original read and placing part, an original identifying means 23 identifies the placing conditions, such as if there is, and the size, location etc. On the basis of identification, an original exhaustion control means 22 controls a drive roller 15, an idling roller 16 and an endless belt 17 of the original exhaust means so that they operate according to the placing conditions, and thus the sheet is exhausted. In case no sheet is perceived within the specified positions of the original read and placing part, the original sheet exhaust action is prohibited and exhaustion is stopped. Thus unnecessary actions of the exhaust mechanism are eliminated, which should prevent jam and fuilure of originals to be exhausted.
