PURPOSE:To efficiently produce a good-quality amethyst crystal which can be worked into a large-sized cut stone in a short synthesis time by using a seed crystal worked from quartz crystal which has been previously synthesized with a solvent contg. Fe, and irradiating gamma rays on the seed crystal. CONSTITUTION:The seed crystal is worked from quartz crystal which has been synthesized by using >=1 kind of substance contg. Fe selected from K2CO3, KOH, K2Cr2O7, LiNO3, LiNO2, etc. The seed crystal is used in the hydrothermal synthesis of amethyst. gamma rays are irradiated on the seed crystal, and the good- quality amethyst crystal which can be worked into a large-sized cut stone can be efficiently produced in a short synthesis time.
