PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material preventing deterioration of photographic characteristics, particularly, generation of fog by forming a photosensitive material comprising a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a hydrolysed product of a quaternary chalcogen azolium salt having a middle chalcogen atom as a ring-constituting atom and a specified quaterizing group. CONSTITUTION:The photographic sensitive material contains a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer and a hydrolyzed product of a quaternary chalcogen azolium salt having a middle chalcogen atom as a ring-constituting atom and a quaterizing group expressed by the formula. In the formula, L is a divalent joint group; T is -CO-, or -SO2-; R is COOR<0>, -SO2OR<0>, etc., (R<0> is an alkyl group). The hydrolyzed compd., is added pref. to a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer, and the amt. to be added is pref. 0.01-10, particularly pref. 0.015-2mmol per 1mol silver halide in the emulsion layer. By this method, a silver halide photographic sensitive material contg. an antifoggant causing hardly deterioration of sensitivity or softening of gradation due to development restraint, is obtd. |
