Polyacyllactams comprising one or more polyhydrocarbon block and one or more polyether block wherein the polyhydrocarbon block is derived from a polyhydrocarbon of number average molecular weight in the range of 500 to 10,000 and the polyether block is derived from a polyether of number average molecular weight in the range of 60 to 2,000 and wherein the weight ratio of polyhydrocarbon to polyether in the polyacyllactam product is in the range of 1 : 1 to 9 : 1.
