A method for minimising inking fluctuations in the prints of offset machines, in which proportions of ink and water in the emulsion on the printing plate (3) are recorded using the different absorption spectra of the constituents, wherein, after rapid changes to the operating state, the ink supply at the inking unit (5) and the damping medium supply at the damping unit (4) are fed by continuing, finely metered adjusting operations in such a way that the fluctuations in the proportion of ink in the emulsion on the printing plate (3) are minimised.
