PURPOSE:To attain abbreviated dialing or the like without using an exclusive telephone set by using an external adaptor detecting/decoding a dial pulse of a telephone set and outputting a dial signal based on the result of decoding. CONSTITUTION:A DC detection circuit 11 detects a DC current flowing to a pulse telephone set and gives its output to a processing circuit 16. In receiving a detection output, the processing circuit 16 connects a traveling contact of a relay 15 to the position (a) and connects the traveling contact of a relay 14 to the position (b). Thus, a telephone line is connected to a dial signal sending circuit 13 and the telephone set is connected to a DC voltage source 12. In this state, in applying the dialing in response to each mode such as the direct dial mode, abbreviation dial mode or redial mode, the dial input is decoded automatically by the processing circuit 16, processed according to each mode and the dial signal is sent.
