Automatic passbook front cover turning mechanism, where the initially closed passbook is bent and a separator (70; 52) opens the passbook cover by utilizing its greater elasticity compared with that of the pages, and where subsequently either the passbook cover or the opened passbook as the leading part is transported by feed rolls (71, 72; 43, 44), thus effecting a complete opening of the passbook.
