PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the restriction on the size of a sample and for opening and closing a light shielding cap by projecting a sample imposing surface to the outside of the sample chamber of a spectrophotometer and shielding the light between the sample base and sample chamber by means of the light shielding cap and annular light shielding body. CONSTITUTION:The sample base 25 of a reflective device 20 having the top surface formed as the sample imposing surface 27 is projected from the sample chamber 4 of the spectrophotometer. A projecting aperture 4 through which the sample base 25 projects is provided to the cap 45 for light-shielding of the sample chamber 4; further, the annular light shielding body 46 is interposed between said body and the aperture 44. The sample imposing surface 27 exists on the outside of the sample chamber 4 according to the above-mentioned constitution and therefore, the measurement is not restricted by the size of the sample S and in addition, the labor for opening and closing the light shielding cap 45 at every exchange of the sample S is eliminated. Since the light-shielding of the sample chamber 4 is executed by the light shielding cap 4 and the annular light shielding body 45, the light-shielding is sure and the influence of external light on the measured value is obviated.
