PURPOSE:To minimize the change-over wavelength difference of a pair of dispersing elements, by using the wavelength of a bright line spectrum as each of the change-over wavelengths of a pair of the dispersing element. CONSTITUTION:A low pressure mercury lamp used as a light source for wavelength calibration is used as a light source and the angle of a diffraction lattice G1 is adjusted at the wavelength position of one bright line spectrum of the low pressure mercury lamp so as to emit said bright line spectrum. Next, a diffraction lattice stand 2 is rotated around the center 4 of rotation by the rotation of a motor 38 to alter a diffraction lattice G2 to the position of the diffraction lattice G1 and the angle of the diffraction lattice G2 is adjusted at the wavelength position of the same bright line spectrum as that used in the angular adjustment of the diffraction lattice G1. As mentioned above, at the change-over position, the change-over wavelength of the diffraction lattice G1 coincides with that of the diffraction lattice G2. Therefore, the change-over error of the diffraction lattices G1 and G2 is not generated.
