PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of a flame current value and the occurrence of poor ignition during low combustion, by a method wherein a cooling body is formed with the main body of the cooling body located at the downstream of flame and a cooling fin being thinner than the main body, and notches are provided in a region into which a flame rod and a spark rod are projected. CONSTITUTION:Flame 10 formed on a burner flows from the upper stream side, wherein a cooling fin 112 of a heating-to-redness cooling body 11 is located, to the downstream side, where a main body 111 is situated, and a part thereof passes through a vent hole 12. In this case, since the cooling fin 112 is thin, the flow of combustion gas is smooth without being impeded. A position where the cooling body 11 is situated is located to the high temperature part of the flame, and especially, the upper stream side where the cooling fin 112 is situated has a high temperature and is active in combustion reaction. A flame rod 8 and a spark rod 9 are situated adjacent to the cooling fin 112, but since notches 13 and 14 are formed in the cooling fin 112, during ignition, spark is prevented from flying from the spark rod to the cooling body 11. Further, since a combustion state is not widely changed during low combustion, a flame current value detected by the flame rod 8 does not decrease.
