摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate moire, to reduce an image to l/N electrically, and to eliminate the moire without changing a magnification as a result, by reading the image in which the moire is generated. by magnifying the image by N-fold optically. CONSTITUTION:When it is discriminated that the moire is generated by looking at an obtained binary-coded image at the reading time of a halftone image in a regular read operation, the image is sent to a CPU8 through a moire generation signal input means 10, and a magnifi cation N for an optical magnification is calculated by inputting a moire eliminating ratio N' from a moire magnification data generation circuit 11, and multiplying the magnification N' by the present magnification. For example, four stages of magnifications N' can be set by operating buttons 15a and 15b in a picture reader. When a calculated value exceeds the specification of the picture reader, the magnification is set at the maximum magnification as large as possible as the magnification for the optical magnification. An electrically reduced magniflcation l/N is calculated, and it is sent respectively to an optical mechanism 2 and an electrical reduction circuit 4. When the image of the same original l is read at the next time, the image is magnified by N-fold, optically, and is read by an image pickup element 3, and a bit of picture information is thinned out electrically, then it is reduced to l/N. And a halftone processing is applied on a bit of processed picture information, thereby the moire being eliminated.
