PURPOSE:To surely attach and detach a leader block to a cartridge, to miniaturize a device and to cut down its cost by constituting such that the holding pin of a drive arm holding the leader block and a drive lever engaged with the recessed part of a cam are turned according to the principle of a lever. CONSTITUTION:When the cartridge is inserted into a housing, the leader block 39 is engaged with the holding pin 32 of the drive arm 81, and the pin 91 of the drive lever 90 is fitted in the recessed part 75 of the cam 73. Due to the counterclockwise turn of a disk 48 the lever 90 turns clockwise with a supporting spindle 89 as a center, and the block 39 slips off from the housing by a powerful force complying to the principle of a lever. A tape connected to the block 39 is wound on a winding reel 94, and read by a magnetic head at high accuracy. Accordingly the leader block surely detaches from the cartridge, and the constitution is simplified, whereby the device can be miniaturized and its cost is reduced.
