PURPOSE:To improve the operational efficiency of a hot press and the safety factor of operation, eliminating manual setting work by a method in which a mat is preformed, while attracting it onto the vacuum box paired with a preforming mold, and after the mat has been moved onto a bottom force at the state where it was attracted, the attraction for the mat is released. CONSTITUTION:When a vacuum box 3 is brought over a preforming mold 1, the vacuum box 3 is lowered and its attracting surface is caused to be in contact with a fibrous soft mat paired with the mold surface of the preforming mold 1, and the fibrous soft mat 5 is preformed, while attracting it onto the attracting surface by the pressure due to suction. When the preformed fibrous soft mat is attracted onto the attracting surface of the vacuum box 3, the vacuum box 3 is elevated as it is, and is inserted through between the top force 4 and bottom force 2 of a hot press. When the suction box is lowered a little, the suction from a suction source is released, and the preformed fibrous soft mat 5 is set onto the mold surface of the bottom force 2. Then, when the top force 4 is elevated, the pressure molded product 6 is released from the mold. |
